JOB SUMMARY

To measure, visually examine, and test one or more characteristics of a part and compare the results with specified requirements to determine whether conformity is achieved for each characteristic.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working with established processes, performs daily line inspection and/or final inspection for all production areas. This may include visual inspection, material verification, dimensional inspection, temperature/pressure verification, bond testing, tensile testing, durometer measurements, or electrical testing.
  • Programming Vision System for part inspection and automatic data collection using QC-Calc.
  • Performs GR&Rs, Capability Studies, Long Term Studies, and First Article Inspections.
  • Performs receiving inspection on all inserts and raw materials.
  • Accurately completes MRB or MRR on all discrepant materials, assures dispositions are carried out, and distributes copies as required.
  • Files and maintains pertinent QA records.
  • Conduct internal quality audits and support customer audits.
  • Works with production supervisors and Operators to improve the quality of molded parts.
  • Backup for gauge calibration and maintains calibration records.
  • Assists in establishing statistical process control where needed.
  • Assists with other areas as assigned.

 

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in maintaining departmental procedures.
  • Troubleshoots quality problems in molding, testing, and final prep.
  • Develop computerized systems in QA as needed.
  • Keeps and organizes retained samples.

 

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to use basic measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, pin gages, etc.
  • General understanding of computer programs that are used in QA.
  • Organized, pays close attention to detail, and can work on several high-priority items simultaneously.
  • Thorough understanding of blueprints and basic knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 requirements and good documentation practices (GDP).
  • Familiar with PPAP requirements such as flowcharts, control plans, and PFMEAs.
  • Requires good written and verbal communication skills. Requires respect and trust when working with others.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to lift 30-pound boxes occasionally.
  • Normal Vision Required
