JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Technician III repairs and maintains all RRPCo’s. buildings and equipment including fabrication of new and existing support equipment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs direct repair and maintenance on buildings and equipment as needed. (Electrical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic)
- Notifies Maintenance Lead for necessary supplies and equipment to support repair and maintenance activity.
- Maintains inventories of equipment parts and supplies by checking stock and notifying Maintenance Lead.
- Communicates to Maintenance and Department Leads on immediate repairs that take longer than 15 minutes and ability to estimate repair time.
- Coordinates with Manufacturing when performing planned and unplanned Preventive Maintenance activities.
- Performs maintenance tasks as required to support Production objectives of a 5-day 24-hour manufacturing facility.
- Support Maintenance Lead and back fill Lead Role at times.
- Provides guidance on routine tasks and other troubleshooting assistance to less experienced maintenance technicians.
- Trains production workers on routine preventive maintenance.
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Locates sources of problems by observing and/or operating mechanical devices in operation.
- Provides solutions to equipment/production problems to management.
- Ability to perform maintenance tasks independently in a timely fashion and utilize resources as needed.
- Ability to coordinate having all materials on hand prior to starting maintenance tasks.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Enter unplanned repairs into Machine Repair Log
- Recommend PM changes to Maintenance Lead and complete forms for changes approved.
- Team player, self-starter and dependable.
- Expected to lead by example.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Degree in Industrial Maintenance from a trade school, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as maintenance technician of plant and equipment in an industrial manufacturing setting.
- Low voltage to 480V 3 phase electrical knowledge/experience. Able to read electrical schematics.
- Pipe fitting experience
- Welding certification or equivalent experience.
- PLC diagnostic and able to create basic ladder logic programs.
- Effective verbal communication and teamwork skills
- Manual mill/lathe operation.
- Hydraulic knowledge/experience.
- Pneumatic knowledge/experience.
- Ability to operate machinery and technical equipment.
- Must have or can obtain a State of Minnesota, “Special” High Pressure Boiler Engineer License.
- Forklift and Scissor Lift operations.
- Experience with equipment used for industrial manufacturing, rubber products preferred.
- Blueprint reading and general fabrication skills.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to lift 20 –30 pounds several times a day and occasionally lift to 50 pounds.
- Bending at waist, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as job may require.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Extreme temperature environments at times.
